With over 12 years experience, PHA has provided site acquisition services for telecoms operators in the UK and has consistently been one of Orange’s top achieving consultancies. PHA work alongside radio network planners, site owners, town planners and structural designers to deliver sites. PHA takes great care over site selection and design at the outset as it can eliminate months from the acquisition programme.

Principal services offered include site searches, submission of search reports (including panoramic photography) detailing various options, negotiation of Heads of Terms, site design, full public consultation, submission of planning.

Peter Harris is the Chairman of PHA.

Background

PHA was formed as a partnership in 1996 to support Orange acquisitions in London and the Southeast where Orange were having some problems with a number of difficult sites.

In view of his sales background, Peter Harris was approached, by then the Technical Director, to look at a slightly different approach.  This tack was successful and PHA became an acquisition consultant for Orange in the Southeast Region.

PHA, which became a limited company in 1999, has been one of Orange’s most consistent and highest performing consultants since 1996. PHA has grown slowly but profitably since then and has acquired almost 1000 sites including Greenfield macrocells, building based microcells, standalone streetworks and (as part of an agreement which PHA negotiated) swap out streetworks.

Operating Style

PHA has always reflected the style required by its Client’s own operating needs to ensure that the Clients needs are met.

In telecoms, the key issue of The 10 Commitments audit is also carefully monitored and PHA’s Administration Manager carries out an internal audit of all site files every six months.

Profitability

PHA maintains very low overheads and can therefore make money in a market where other larger organisations now struggle.

Locations & Geography

PHA is based in Wheathampstead, Hertfordshire within easy reach of the M1 (J9 &10), A1M (J5) and M25. 

Because of this convenient central location, PHA can easily reach:

  • Central, East, North, and Northwest London
  • Northern & Western Home Counties
  • South Midlands
  • East Anglia

PHA’s external consultants are based at offices in Buckingham, High Wycombe, Rugby (Warwicks) & Haverhill (Cambs). 

PHA’s “3” work covers the south of the country from The Wash to Mid-Wales, with particular expertise in London, the South East and the Isle of Wight.

Manpower

PHA has 6 employees. There are 4 acquisition consultants. In addition PHA has 2 admin/finance staff, a support administrator, and an IT specialist.

In addition to the employed staff, PHA currently has 4 external consultants, one of whom concentrates on Orange work and three on “3” work in the Midlands.
